Prof. Moses Muhwezi (PhD)
Prof. Moses Muhwezi (PhD) , is the 2nd Principal in the 28 year history of Makerere University Business School. He holds a PhD in Public Procurement from the University of Twente, The Netherlands; a Master of Philosophy in Public Procurement, Maastricht School of Management, the Netherlands; an MBA in Accounting and Finance, Makerere University; a degree in BCOM (Accounting), Makerere University, among other qualifications.

Professional Service
Before being appointed the Principal of MUBS, Prof. Muhwezi served in different capacities at MUBS and beyond.
- Began academic career at Makerere University, Faculty of Commerce (Before creation MUBS) in 1995, advancing from teaching assistant to full Professor of Public Procurement and Supply Chain Management
- Served as Dean, Faculty of Entrepreneurship & Business Administration
- Served as Head of Departments, Department of Procurement & Supply Chain Management, Department of Management Science and Department of
Business Administration.
- Appointed Deputy Principal in 2014 (confirmed in 2019)
- Served as Acting Principal for nearly 16 months and substantive appointment in November 2024 for a five-year term by presidential appointment.
He is a leader with a humble background and with a determination to study and excel.
Leadership & Vision Highlights
- Credited for stabilizing MUBS during interim leadership.
- Outlined strategic priorities including:
- Engaging industry experts as guest lecturers and researchers
- Integrating technical skills training alongside academic programs (e.g., the popular BCOM+1 program that embeds technical skills plumbing, mechanics to business graduates) to boost their employability
- Aligning MUBS curriculum with Uganda’s Competence-Based Curriculum framework
