  • Keep valuables such as laptops or purses out of sight in vehicles.

  • Avoid parking in unsafe locations.

We achieve this goals through our set roles that we play:

  1. Protect People (Students, Staff, and Visitors)

    • Ensure personal safety on campus.

    • Prevent crimes such as theft, assault, harassment, or vandalism.

    • Provide rapid response to emergencies and incidents.

  2. Safeguard Property and Assets

    • Protect university buildings, vehicles, IT systems, and equipment.

    • Monitor access to facilities and prevent unauthorized entry.

    • Reduce loss or damage to institutional property.

  3. Maintain Order and Compliance

    • Enforce university policies, rules, and codes of conduct.

    • Collaborate with national or local police in handling legal matters.

    • Manage crowd control during events, exams, and public gatherings.

  4. Emergency Preparedness and Response

    • Develop and implement disaster management and evacuation plans.

    • Provide first aid or coordinate medical support during incidents.

    • Train the community on fire safety, natural disasters, and crisis response.

  5. Crime Prevention and Awareness

    • Run awareness campaigns to encourage safe behavior

    • Educate students on avoiding scams, theft, or risky activities

    • Encourage community reporting of suspicious activity.

  6. Build Trust and Community Relations

    • Provide approachable, service-oriented security rather than fear-based enforcement.

    • Act as a support system for students and staff facing safety concerns.

    • Strengthen cooperation with the local community and law enforcement.

In the line of duty, MUBS security office has the following mandate;

  1. Emergency Response & Security Audits
  • MUBS conducts regular security audits to identify vulnerabilities and maintain a safe environment.
  • The institution has established an emergency response team to manage crisis situations effectively.
  • Staff members receive training on security best practices, enhancing readiness and preparedness.
  1. Safety Guidelines & Procedures
  • There are defined safety guidelines and procedures, which help ensure both preventive maintenance and equipment reliability (e.g., display devices, disk drives).
  • These include clear protocols that contribute to daily operational safety.
  1. Emergency and Recovery Procedures
  • Official documentation references the presence of established emergency and recovery procedures. These likely include protocols for immediate action in case of fire, medical emergencies, or other disruptions.
  1. Cybersecurity & Access Control
  • The school’s cyber-related materials emphasize the importance of reducing cyberattack risks and protecting systems and networks from exploitation.
  • Access control—encompassing both digital authentication and physical security (e.g., biometric systems)—is emphasized to manage entry and protect sensitive assets.
  1. Fraud Prevention & Internal Controls
