The Faculty of Management has a Bachelor of Human Resource and Bachelors in Leadership and Governance as well as their respective Masters programs. The Faculty of Management has made advances in achievements, training and workshops as well as value adding collaborations. We have had a number of students completing their academic programmes in time which demonstrates our commitment to the Business School major task. The programmes have been reviewed in view of the new socio-economic and professional trends, updated and approved by National Council for Higher Education. The academic staff capacity has been and continues to be routinely developed to at various levels such as Masters and PhD to suit the high expectations of the students.
The Faculty of Management (FOM) is dedicated to enhancing knowledge, understanding and practice of management, leadership and governance. In this pursuit, FOM aims to develop networking with other Universities and other Higher Education Institutions in the country and abroad to exchange new knowledge and research. The FOM intends to enhance effectiveness and efficiency in management.
The approach to pedagogy used by FOM combines fieldwork, internship, case studies and feedback with a strong emphasis on concepts and theory. The FOM has over the years produced the best graduates equipped with necessary knowledge, skills, values and attitudes that match the market demand. As a Faculty, we have confidence in our graduates and believe that they are productive change agents fit for sustaining innovative and competitive organizations in the 21st Century.
Our faculty staff are accomplished leaders, educators, mentors and advisors who offer students the contemporary world-class set of management skills, experiences and support they need to succeed in an interconnected world. Staff are experienced professionals who research and ensure that course material is relevant, practical and connected to industry and community. COLLABORATIONS
The Faculty of Management values Internationalization as a source of current trend in Innovations, Research and Practice. The Faculty of Management has sustained and signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) to collaborate with various Higher Institutions of Learning; China agricultural University, University Forte Hare, University of Ghana Business School, University of Western Cape, University of Peace in Somalia, Moi University and locally with Institute of Advanced Leadership – Uganda. China-Uganda Research network was established to promote focused research on International dynamics to enhance evidence-based appreciation of the new areas of study in Management. These collaborations will further strengthen research, teaching, enable mobility of students and staff between Higher Institutions of learning. Workshops on topical issues have been hosted such as; Visualizing the purpose and future of education by Peace Foundation and Dr. Tony Devine. At the same time current best students have been motivated by certificate of achievement. Regular engagements have been held with challenged students.
The Department of Human Resource Management handles a program of Bachelors of Human Resource Management.
The Department of Leadership and Governance handles a program of Bachelor of Leadership and Governance.
The Faculty is mandated to facilitate learning and research at Makerere University Business School. The Department of Human Resource facilitates the programme of Bachelor of Human Resource Management and the department of Leadership and Governance facilitates the Programme of Bachelor of Leadership and Governance.
The faculty has a number of different staff of Senior lecturers, lecturers, Assistant Lecturers, Teaching Assistants and Administrators under departments and faculty.
