Welcome to the Faculty of Tourism, Hospitality and Languages at Makerere University Business School, where excellence is not a destination but a constant journey.
The 2024/2025 academic year marked a powerful chapter for our faculty, both academically and through global recognition. Our programmes continue to grow in impact and relevance across Hospitality, Tourism Management, Event Planning, Catering, Recreation, and Business Languages, all supported by three vibrant departments and a dynamic team of educators.
But this year, we also celebrate a historic achievement: Associate Professor Milburga Atcero, Dean of our Faculty and recipient of the prestigious Knight of the Order of Academic Palms, has been elected unopposed as the First Vice-President of the Commission for Africa and the Indian Ocean Teachers of French (FIPF) for the next four years. She now also serves as a Board Member of the International Federation of Teachers of French in the World, further cementing our faculty’s place on the global stage.
These honors are a reflection not only of her leadership and vision, but of the deep commitment our faculty holds to multilingual excellence, academic diplomacy, and global cooperation.
Our faculty’s priorities this year included:
– Strengthening strategic collaborations with embassies, tourism boards, academic organizations, and cultural institutions
– Advancing experiential learning through guided study tours that bridge theory with practice for BTTM and BLEHM students
– Enriching language acquisition initiatives for staff and students to boost global employability
– Aligning our curriculum with international accreditation frameworks and supporting student/faculty exchange opportunities
We welcome all students, partners, and collaborators to join us in advancing our shared goals of inclusion, innovation, and internationalization.
With pride in our accomplishments and optimism for what lies ahead, I invite you to join us on this journey.
